Set up GitHub App

Install the OpenTaco GitHub App once before configuring Terraform, OpenTofu, or Terragrunt automation

PR Automation connects OpenTaco to your GitHub pull request lifecycle. OpenTaco receives PR and comment events from GitHub and orchestrates plan/apply execution within GitHub Actions, and posts results back to the pull request.

Prerequisites:

• A GitHub account with permission to install GitHub Apps in your organization or repository
• An OpenTaco account on otaco.app

1. Install the OpenTaco GitHub App

   Install the OpenTaco GitHub App and grant access to the repositories you want to automate.

2. Choose repository access scope

   During installation, choose either all repositories or selected repositories.

   For most teams, selected repositories is safer so you can roll out gradually.

3. Confirm installation in GitHub

   In GitHub, open your organization or user settings and confirm the OpenTaco app is installed and has access to the intended repositories.

The GitHub App does not need direct access to your cloud account. Cloud credentials stay in your CI configuration.
